Artist Statement

Through color and form, I use oil on large canvases to help me represent what lies in the unconscious. My work explores the relationship between color and form, observing the spontaneity of emotions that appear. It is through the compositions of these elements that my paintings construct meaning for me.

My greatest influences have been artists from the AbEx period (mid 1940’s through the mid 1950’s). From them, I have gained an understanding of remaining fluid in technique and letting barriers of the mind unbecome. Let what is, taking directions only from what’s happening within.
